AbilitiesCharacter's Canon Abilities: Ghirahim is a demon, and his powers are second only to the Demon King himself. As such he can use high-level demonic magic and possesses control over lower evil entities. He has the ability to cause unusual meteorological phenomenon, such as black tornadoes, which he can then manipulate to reach his ends. Being a Demon Lord, he can summon lower demons/monsters and control them, as long as the demons are within reach. Indeed, he can’t summon demons if there are none in the world he inhabits. To palliate for this problem, Ghirahim can supposedly create demons and monsters from nearly nothing, albeit not in large quantities. He can control and corrupt existing beings by infusing them with dark energy. This is most easily done on inanimate objects, which he can turn into evil beings for his use. He supposedly could do it on someone alive, but depending on their willpower it would most likely fail.
One of his most notable ability is teleportation; Ghirahim can use a teleportation magic allowing him to travel moderate distances in the wink of an eye. He also has the ability to teleport other beings around, albeit in limited numbers. This ability to teleport is nevertheless limited; there is a limit on how far he is able to teleport. For long distance he may have to teleport many times or even walk and use other means of transportation. Similarly, he cannot teleport in an area protected by a magic field or a device whose function is to prevent teleportation.
The Demon Lord is able to create powerful and impenetrable barriers. Those barriers made of magical flames and crystals prevent anyone from accessing a limited perimeter. Nevertheless, they require focus to be maintained and will fade with time eventually. Would he never stop focusing on the barriers, they could virtually hold forever. As soon as he stops focusing though, the barrier will fade in a matter of minutes, seconds even if he is doing something else requiring a large amount of energy. Similarly, he can conjure platform, made up of the same kind of crystals the barriers are made of.
His magical abilities aren’t limited to those examples. Ghirahim can levitate and/or have other people levitate. He can cast special spells in the purpose to revive and unseal his master. Those spells involve breaking demonic seals and removing souls from a human body, so they’re quite lengthy to cast. In battles, Ghirahim can summon energy/fire balls looking similar to small bats to attack his enemies, enflamed discs to throw at them and he can have his weapons floating around him to serve as shields.
While he is gifted with magical prowess, Ghirahim’s physical capacities do not pale in comparison. He is extremely agile and is an expert both at hand-to-hand combat and at using a sword. Being very strong, he can block an enemy’s sword with his bare hands and even take the sword from them if they’re not fast or strong enough to oppose him.
When he bears his normal appearance he looks as though he’s made of flesh and blood, but when he takes upon his real form, Ghirahim’s body appears to be entirely made of metal, which he claims is more resistant than any armor existing. As such, no sword or weapon can cause him serious damage when he displays his real appearance, making him a formidable opponent, near indestructible. Nevertheless, the jewel in his chest proves to be a weak point that will harm him when hit. As such Ghirahim can be defeated when the jewel is damaged enough, and may probably be killed if the jewel was to be destroyed.
Weapons: It’s worth noting that Ghirahim himself
is a weapon. Indeed, he is the spirit of the sword used by the Demon King Demise, and can turn into the
sword whenever he wishes.
Ghirahim can conjure swords and knives, which he uses during battles. Given what he is, it is assumed he can conjure a variety of swords, the swords he uses actually being a part of himself. He appears to favorite slender rapiers but will use large and heavy swords in critical situations.
History/Personality/Plans/etc.Character History: Ghirahim – Zelda WikiPoint in Canon: After Link defeated Demise.
Basically Ghirahim was defeated by the Hero but it didn’t matter because his plan to revive his Master, Demise, succeeded. Once the Demon King was freed from his seal and resurrected, he summoned his sword from Ghirahim, the sword literally coming out from Ghirahim and his spirit integrating the sword. Once the deed was done, Link defied Demise and the both of them fought, resulting in Demise’s defeat. Upon loosing, Demise’s sword, it’s to say Ghirahim, faded away and disappeared.
Character Personality:Someone very misinformed and paying no attention to the general weirdness emanating from him could think Ghirahim is a gentleman upon meeting him for the first time. He could even look like noble suzerain with a high level of education for a few minutes. Indeed, everything in Ghirahim screams that he is a man of power- his appearance, his manners, his intonations; this is all very fitting for someone ruling the world or at the very least, the surface. He thinks highly of himself as most rulers do, presenting himself to others in an over-exaggerated manner, so high and full of himself, yet all while remaining classy and respectful to his interlocutor, and he stays calm, quiet even. He is by no means modest and quite often flatters himself- and love to hear other peoples flattering him.
Indeed, Ghirahim is quite a superb, flamboyant person who over-exaggerates everything he does. He likes to be seen, to be admired, to be recognized for what he is. He doesn’t mind people calling him simply Ghirahim, but as he tells the hero, he much prefers to be indulged with his full title, Lord Ghirahim. His clothes shows a lot of his skin- what he doesn’t mind as he considers his skin to be the best, softest , most resistant and quite simply most perfect skin in existence. Yet those clothes give away a feel of royalty, something divine, they’re impeccable, one could go as far as to say they’re perfect for him. Everything he does has to be great, everything he does has to be perfect, and if you ask him, it all is. Better even, if you ask him he’ll assure you he is the most perfect thing to have ever existed. His intellect, his body, and his skills- They’re all perfect.
Nevertheless, if after one minute with him they still think Ghirahim is a gentleman, they have to be very gullible or stupid. Other than his narcissism, another hint to his true nature would be when Ghirahim claims to be a Demon Lord, what with demons generally being
evil. He could avoid saying it, but one quality that derivate from his narcissism is honesty: he may lie, but when speaking about himself, he’s so perfect he doesn’t see the need to lie. Another most immediate hint would be his laugh, a chuckle he cannot repress, a demonic laughter that escapes his lips way too often, sounding as if it came from another world. The laugh is not long, it is often short, but it’s enough to give off creepy vibes, the kind of vibes giving away when someone isn’t a nice person, let alone sane mentally.
And creepy, Ghirahim is. If his appearance isn’t creepy enough, his voice itself is weird, not a voice any human could have. But then comes his action, and his attraction to be close to peoples, or rather, to his victims. He’ll appear behind them, hold them close- sometime lick their cheek or their neck before saying he plans to beat them to death. If it wasn’t enough, he is a very expressive person, his face easily displaying any emotions coming through him, joy, pleasure, anger, sadism-
Considering himself to be perfect, it goes without saying he considers everything else to be imperfect, hence inferior to him and only good to bow and obey him. Only good to serve him, as should do every being on the surface. He cares very little for the lives of other peoples, not even for that of his minions. No one, no species finds grace in his eyes, and he will show no mercy to anyone most of the time, even though if it furthers his entertainment he might just show mercy and play with those lower beings. If anything, he only cares for his master, Demise, his purpose being to bring him back to life. As it is, Ghirahim is very loyal to his Master, shows even a borderless loyalty, working for all his life to bring him back. Once more, like for everything else, Ghirahim’s loyalty is over-exaggerated and superior to that anyone can display.
Demise being the Demon King who once ravaged the world, it’s unnecessary to mention Ghirahim, the most powerful demon after him and his weapon, is evil. Evil might even be a weak word when mentioning Ghirahim. Evil people sometime just go forward with their plans, not caring about the means as long as they get what they wish. Ghirahim on the other end cares every much about the means. As long as possible, he’d rather the means involve a lot of suffering and pain to his poor victims. They don’t really deserve better, but he deserves to have his amusement maximized. He pretends it is mercy he shows when he spares his victims. One could argue it’s sadism.
Sadistic probably doesn’t cut it. He likes to play with those who dare oppose him, both mentally and physically. Mentally by giving them inhuman choices to do, by giving them a glimpse of what he truly wishes, and by telling them all the atrocities he wishes to commit on them. Physically comes when he commits said atrocities, generally involving fighting and beating up the victims in the most painful, slow and bloody ways. He likes torturing so much that he even gives pet names to his attacks and tortures techniques. Ghirahim takes inhuman pleasure and joy at this kind of activities, only the mention of them is enough to make him happy.
And because death means the victim is freed from the torture, because it means the victim cannot be played with again, Ghirahim avoid killing his victims, his opponents. This proves to be a major character flaw when the victim grows strong enough to defeat him and thwart his centuries-long plan. It’s worst considering he knew this could happen and preferred to give in to his guilty pleasures than to take care of the probable threat while he was still weak and badly equipped.
However, this doesn’t mean Ghirahim is an idiot, quite the contrary. Ghirahim is very smart and proved to be a cunning strategist when he set into motion the plan to revive his master. During battle his intelligence shows as well, his techniques adapting to his opponent. He is a quick thinker, and whenever one of his plan fails it doesn’t take him long to make up another plan. This doesn’t mean Ghirahim stays calm and collected when a plan fails. Quite the contrary actually.
That’s when one of his biggest defaults shows most: he loses his nerves and enters red fury. This doesn’t last long generally. Overall, Ghirahim’s mood is a variable that changes very easily and very quickly. A second he looks sympathetic, the next he is in your back licking your cheek, the next he says how much he’s going to enjoy drowning you in your own blood. As always, Ghirahim acts with over-exaggeration and a pronounced sense of drama. Nevertheless as he says, going back to his favorite activity is a wonderful remedy to his loss of nerves and bad mood in general: torturing and taking pleasure to see others being harmed and suffering. Because in the end, what matters most to Ghirahim is to accomplish his plan, through what he’ll truly be happy.
Character Plans: If there is one, Ghirahim will hunt the local Zelda. He will also try to learn new battle techniques and dark magic, as well as seek ways to leave the port and go back to his homeworld. His purpose would be to go back without losing his memories and with the ability to choose which time period he would pop-up in. That’s impossible, but that won’t prevent him from searching and trying. Otherwise he will probably stand aside from people and organization quarrels, unless he sees some profit to take an active role. He will still “socialize” around, be his creeper self and show no pity to those getting on his -oh so fragile- nerves.
